Eye Tests at Aged Care Facilities

What we do

  • We set up our mobile optometry clinic on site at aged care facilities in Sydney to provide eye testing services.
  • The eye tests are bulk billed to Medicare, so there is no cost for the resident, family/caregiver, staff and facility.
  • We service nursing homes and retirement villages.
  • Our on site eye tests can be conducted in the comfort of the resident’s chair or bed.
  • We provide eye care to people of all abilities, regardless of mobility, disability, cognitive difficulties, age and health.

What the eye test involves

  • Our Australian accredited optometrists conduct comprehensive eye tests to check a patient’s spectacle prescription and eye health. This includes an assessment and management of eye diseases including cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma and many more.
  • Our experienced optical dispensers help the patients choose from our large range of prescription glasses, sunglasses and low vision aids for the best style and comfort, if they require glasses.
  • We have open communication with the facility staff and resident’s loved ones so everyone is included in the process.

Why we do eye tests for aged care

  • We understand how difficult it is to organise transport and arrange appointments for loved ones living at an aged care facility, so we bring our optometry clinic to the residents to be tested as part of their health checks with the facility.
  • As we grow older, we are more prone to age-related eye diseases. A decline in vision contributes to lower confidence and mood, issues in mobility and higher risk of falls for people over 65. Regular eye tests is important to detect and manage any eye conditions as early as possible to maintain quality of life.
